Microelectronics industry's standards body JEDEC Solid State Technology Association today announced the industry's first solid-state hard drive specification "MO-297", the main specifications for the 1.8-inch. MO-297 defines a 1.8-inch SATA interface SSD (54 × 39 mm) of physical size, layout and interface, the use of such a standard solid-state hard drive products to designers, manufacturers, consumers will benefit, but also conducive to the popularity of solid-state storage technology.
MO-297 also draw SFF Committee "SFF-8156" standards, as well as SATA-IO organization SATA interface standard 2.6 version, in the physical shape and size and their interface "compatible."
JEDEC Chairman Mian Quddus said, MO-297 standard is a very important first step, the next they will have the full development of solid-state hard drive specification.
