Microsoft lost the New Zealand government purchase orders

Microsoft failed to reach the New Zealand government orders to buy Windows operating system renewal agreement, the incident open-source operating system for other government agencies to open the way to the door. Since 2000 Microsoft has been provided by the Government of New Zealand in the software, but the contract between the end of 2008 has expired.

Microsoft had previously with the State Services Commission to negotiate a three-year renewal of orders, but the two sides could not reach consensus, the Commission said, "continue to work with Microsoft's contract is outdated."

New Zealand Government has organized a major government agency in charge of the Committee members to discuss a contractual matter with Microsoft, but Microsoft's products appear in terms of price, features, etc. and can not meet the needs of the Commission. New Zealand State Services Commission also called for major government departments "to play the most effective IT investments to better implement the principle of good value for money."
